241X/251X EDID @ DELL-Chris M

Hi. I specially registered here to get this to you on the subject of Dell 241X and 251X EDID issues.

Consider me a journalist, although I'm only a passionate computer hobbyist. Here goes:

Dear Chris,

as an advisory on several message boards I have been running in circles on random malfunctions of many Dell monitors of the above mentioned family. I suspect you may have as well.
I sincerely believe all related issues have to do with the EDID not being imparted properly to the attached OS or Video Card  (Windows, Mac OSX, Linux, BSD) by the Dell monitor.
Being well aware that several attached computers/ OSes/Video Cards are not yet DisplayPort v.1.2 capable, I am seeing EDID issues on HDMI ports as well.
It might save both of us a lot of time would Dell focus on correct EDID communication of its monitors towards attached systems.
Could you lead me to the appropriate circuitry/ chip being used to impart EDID? I will wholeheartedly try to be of help.
If firmware might pose a problem, that can be solved as well. Only, I'm unable to locate firmware for the models mentioned above younger than 2014, that being only Windows Executables. No help whatever to my Mac OSX or Linux correspondents.
Hoping to help fix the issues for these beautiful monitors,
Sincerely yours, and thank you,
dellhex
