SP2008WFP - WebCam no longer recognized by XP

I am not sure whether it is a Dell or a Microsoft problem, but since yesterday Windows XP pops up a balloon with "USB Device not recognized" when I turn off and on the Monitor. Clicking into the balloon there is a "unknown device" message for the USB port where the monitor is connected. Double clicking on the "unknown device message" opens a window with the silly "no driver installed" Message. Of course is the Webcam Center, Driver etc installed from the CD-ROM.
The whole story started after the latest MS Updates. So I'm not sure if one of these updates causes the problem.
I'm using MS Windows XP SP2, German version. The monitor is not yet a week old, and worked fine until this morning.
