CERC RAID1 to RAID5 Conversion - General Questions

I've read in both the Docs for the CERC controller and in other forum posts about how the CERC and PERC controllers have the ability to convert from RAID1 to RAID5 if you add another drive to the machine, add it as a member to the array, then convert the type from RAID1 to RAID5. A few questions pertaining to this:

1) How much time should I allow for a conversion like this to take place? In another post someone said he had 2 36GB drives and it took 20 hours to convert.. I'm running my RAID1 array with 2 ~73GB drives but there's only about 32GB of data on them. Will the conversion process take less time to convert 32GB of data on a 73GB logical drive than it would a 73GB drive with 73GB of data?

2) From what I gathered reading the docs it sounds like you issue these commands to the CERC controller from within the Windows based controller management software. Does this mean the machine can be up and running with users/writing and reading data from the array while the conversion is taking place? I wouldn't think so.. but I haven't used this function before.

Thank you very much for any information you can give me!
