I have a 3100cn with 250 sheet lower cassette ( tray1)

The printer keeps asking us to load letter in tray 1--when tray 1 has plenty of paper! Additionally the printer will not default to the MPT tray!

If I remove the tray 1 option--the printer tells me to install the 250 sheet tray 1! I cannot do anything with this printer!

The Default paper size & type for both the MPT tray & tray 1  are set for letter & plain 1!

Is there a way to " reinitialize" this printer? 

Or is there a way to get the MPT tray to work without tray 1 option?
