How to remove a DAE from Unity?

Hi,

Does anybody have an experience to remove DAE from Unity?

If the DAE is on the end of a bus roop, can we just remove SAS cables from the DAE and restart Management server to clear alerts from Unisphere? Or do we need to reboot the SPs to complete the operation?

I could find the info on VNXe and VNX2 as follows. I guess Unity should be the same but am not sure...

VNXe DAE removal and alert configuration

Removing a DAE from VNX2

Thank you,

    Hello Gianpaolo,

Your steps are correct.  One thing I would do is to reboot your Unity system after you remove the DAE as it may still show in Unisphere.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

    Hi,

Have you finally found the proper procedure? I need to remove DAE which is last in SAS stack and I wonder if it is enough to disconnect it and power down or SP reboot is also required.

    Regards,

DAEs in Unity are kind of "plug-n-play". No need for reboots.

Just make sure there is nothing using drives on that DAE, otherwise you may take a pool offline.

    Hi All

The correct procedure ti remove a DAE from Uniti is:

    1) Destroy any Luns/Pools that reside in the DAE

    2) power off the DAE

    3) unplug the BUS

    4) Remove Hardware DAE

Pls. could you confirm the above procedure?

    Thanks in advance

    regards

    Gianpaolo
