Screen not refreshing

When I connect to Ubuntu Lucid x64, via VNC (over WiFi), all mouse/keystroke actions are acted upon by Ubuntu, but the screen on my Android does not refresh based on them; my android screen never changes from that initially displayed at login to Ubuntu.

Any ideas/assistance?
