I was probably foolish, but I saw the new BIOS version 1.1.29 on the support site an hour ago, so I downloaded it and attempted a FLASH UPDATE.  It installed successfully.  There was a long "hang" on the Dell logo after several reboots, as was the case with the botched 1.1.27 update, but the computer rebooted a couple of times more, and all was good.

Just my experience, YMMV.
