So work are buying a MD1400 but from what I gather its a JBOD, so it would need connecting to an external SAS RAID Controller? Or does it have an inbuilt RAID controller for configuring the disks into RAID groups/vdisks?

The server the want to patch it to, has a LSI SAS2 2008 Falcon, from what I can gather this is just a dumb SAS card and as such has no RAID capabilities?
