The smaller is the notebook Dell Diagnostics and the larger is an image file to recreate your notebook as delivered.  If you want to save the info but delete it for now, Ghost the partitions so you can restore them later.  A DVD would hold both.

Well, I guess my main question is: Do I need to keep the stuff on the partitians? If I completely wipe them out, will I later regret it? Aside from all of the pre-installed software, what all is on there that I can not get from the XP Reinstallation CD?

There is no reason you cannot blow them off.  The Drivers and Utilities cd should boot to the Dell Diagnostics, and it woud be cleaner to just load up Windows XP and Dell drivers.  If you are concerned, then Ghost the two partitions to save the capability as I suggested.

Thanks for the input.

One last question, though... was I supposed to receive a "Drivers and Utilities" CD? The XP Reinstallation CD was not sent to me, and is supposed to be on the way. I never received a Drivers and Util cd, and if I was supposed to receive one it wasn't mentioned when I listed for them the CDs that I did receive.

Dell does not provide the Drivers/Utilities disk any more.  You can download all of the updates from the download section.  Click on the Product Support menu above and select downloads.

You should also have all of the drivers for your system in the C:\Dell directory.  You can burn them to a CDR and save them.
