4600 Second Harddrive Problem

Hi everybody,   I just installed the second Harddrive for my Dimension 4600. I had one original with 80G and the new one is 120G. The system recognize the new one, but the Transfer Mode for the NEW HD is still PIO even after I change it to 'DMA, if applicable'. PIO is really really slow, only 1M/s and it also have a lot of noises. It can not support USB transferring well either. If I use an external HD to copy large files to the new HD, the transfer will cease and the system will collapse during the transfer.   Please help me out. Thanks!

Windows may have reverted your ide controller from dma to pio. Try this site: http://www.michna.com/kb/WxDMA.htm for a registry hack and explanation. I had same problem on Inspiron 8600. Good Luck.
