Hi BP,,

Click on the CD/RW link in my post and scroll to Section 11, articles 2 & 1; Section 20, article 3.

If these do not help, open the case, disconnect the IDE cable from the optical drives, also the power cable as well. Re-boot the system, now shut her down, re-connect the drives, turn the system back on.
If the problem is still not corrected, repeat the process for disconnecting both drives, then re-connect only one drive, see it if will work, then test the second drive as the only device on the IDE cable.

Sorry, but I don't know what the IDE cable is.  I appreciate your help, could you please expound?

Hi BP,

Hover your mouse over the Product Support tab above, click on the User Guides link, select Dimension, then your system, Look for Adding & Removing Parts
