NahYnot,

How do you have the jumpers set on the drives ? Dell uses "Cable Select".

On the rear of both your new hard drive, and DVD-CDRW, you'll find jumpers. Look in the instruction manuals for instructions on how to set them for "Cable Select".

Hello NahYnot,

Did you check the jumper settings?  Yes, there are even jumber settings on CD-ROMs and such drives.  Be sure the jumpers are set for what you want them to be ("Master", "Slave", etc.)  You may want to be careful though.  I once mixed up the jumper settings on a hard drive.  I was trying to Format one and NOT the other.  But after I Formatted one, both of them were formatted.  Therefore, you can alter the data on both hard drives although you only directly altered the data on one, even if the computer "says" it does not detect the other one.

I do not mean to scare nor confuse you.  But check the jumper settings out.  If you do not know how to do this, please tell me.  I would be happy to lead you through it.
