I was just about ready to get the 7200RPM hard drive with the 6000, but some say there are more problems with it. Is this true?

Right now there are problems with the 7200 rpm LT drives in general, overheating, reliability problems etc, not so much in one model.

Your chice is fine for the LT though.

The 5400rpm drives are alot most stable and the real speed difference is very small in a LT.

The slower drive for the 6000 is listed as 4200RPM, but if you look at Dell spare parts, it is 5400RPM. So, you think the 6000 is ok with the 7200RPM drive?

I can tell you what I did when I bought my 5160:

I got the smallest cheapest drive on the list when I ordered it.

After I got it I bought a Seagate 5400 rpm Drive...in my Sig below.

Thank you for that info. Do you think this drive would work in my Inspiron 8100, which has a 30GB Ultra ATA hard drive? I don't know the RPM or the company. It has been doing a lot of clicking recently.
Also, it has 256MB, SDRAM, 133Mhz, 2 DIMMS. What would I need to increase it to 512, and where could I buy it? I don't know much about this, so I would really appreciate any info you can give me.

Yes the drive will work fine in your system.

For Memory you are going to need 2 x 256mb SDRAM PC133. You have 2 x 128mb now so will have to swap both chips out with the new ones.

Thanks, again. If I order these items, and they don't work, can I return them?
Also, do you think an external hard drive or DVD burner would work with this system?

Yes both will work, you can put your drive you get with the system in an external USB2 case.
