Does the CD-RW work OK if you format it in the internal burner drive with Direct CD?  If it does then it's just an incompatibility problem either with the external drive or the DLA program (which probably isn't Direct CD compatible).

If you use some other program to format the RW and then try to use it with Direct CD it can be a compatibility issue.

There are many versions of packet writing software in circulation.  The lack of a standardized format often result in incompatibility issue when attempting to read the disc in another PC.  Packet writing is NOT a realiable mean of archiving data!

Stick to CD-ROM ISO format.  You can use multi-session and leave the disc open if you wish to add data in the future.  I would also write to quality CD-R discs if I need to back-up important data.  The chemical used in CD-RW discs can phase-shift, rendering the disc unreadable.

Pigg,

Fireberd covered most of what Francis felt like he had to repeat which how he operates, stick with Fireberd, ignore the other, logged another complaint according to your post F.

Have a wonderful day,

One other comment on this. You may have only One packet writer on any PC!

If you have both DCD and DLA you are never going to get it to work.
