mobile hdd's are standardized across all manufacturers and makes.

try www.zipzoomfly.com for cheap drives (you need a 2.5in IDE drive).

you'll have to take the old HDD out of the caddy and putting the new one in. You'll also need to (probably) take the blade off of the end of the old drive and carefully attach it to the new one.

where can you purchase a replacement caddy?

You don't need a replacement caddy, the new hard drive goes into the old caddy.

True, but I'd like to be able to swap hard disks at ease.

Dell is the only place to get the caddy, or eBay perhaps.
