Number of supported HD's?

Question

I'm trying to determine the number of internal hd's supported on a Dimension 8400. The Tech specs on the web site say 2 3.5' hd bays, but looking at the user manual online it has the 2 3.5' bays for the floppy and other stuff right above the hd bays.  There appear to be 4 SATA connectors so shouldn't I be able to use one of the spaces where the floppy goes for another SATA drive?   Miro

miroperez.   Yes, you could use one of the other bays, but you may not be able to find the rails to hold the HD in place, as the ones inside the case will fit the FD.   Bev.

The three bays should be good for my needs. I just wanted to put a RAID1 config for the primary drive(s) and have a faster 10K rpm drive like a WD Raptor for the workspace temp files like for video editing.

There is space for three 3.5' devices - two hard drives, and one floppy drive. There are also two 5.25' bays for optical drives. Even though there are four SATA connectors, there are not enough bays for four 3.5' drives by default.
