Hi Myra,

Are you using REcordnow or Sonic`s Packet Writing program DLA?
Also what is the name/model of your burner, there may be a firmware update for it.
Can you burn a CD-R with Windows XP built-in program?
See this link:

Best Regards

God, grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked anyway,
the good fortune to run into the ones I do and the eyesight to tell the
difference.

I was having the same problem. I have a post in here about it. I have (had) a philips 8631 which has problems. First find out what formats your drive model supports.  As mentioned above, try a firmware upgrade (make sure you get the right one for your drive). Tech support also said to uninstall the drive (in device manager) and reboot. Windows XP will reinstall it. Which sonic program are you using to burn the DVD and what error are you getting? You can also try to reinstall Sonic. I just found out I have 2 sonic programs that will burn DVD's. I was using Record Now Plus but the other program is easier to use (I think it's digital media - I will check tonight and let you know). Sonic also has a tech support number on their web site, but the person I talked to wasn't that helpful.

Addendum to my previous post - Sorry, I had DVD's on the brain. I noticed that your problem is with CD-R's (my problem was with DVD-R's). The CD-R's should definately work, but the suggestions mentioned above would still be the same.

Can one of you highly technical people explain to me how I can print an error message that appears on my desktop so I can show someone a hard copy of the problem I am experiencing? I am sure it is easy, but I can't for the life of me figure it out. I have a Dimension 3000. I am a novice of course. Thank you in advance for your help!! Myra

Hold down Shift and hit Print Screen (Should be next to Scroll Lock) this will copy your screen to the clipboard. You can then paste it into a Word document or in an email.
