Yes, I have this same problem on my Inspiron 1100 CDROM Drive. It happens mostly on CDR/RWs. But once it happened on a normal disk.
It is VERY frustrating, I hate it. When I burn a disk on my desktop, I have to make several copies before I can get one to play on my laptop. It seems that the drive is very fussy and seems to think that most disks are corrupted, when other PCs play them without any problem.
This is really stupid and annoying.
By the way, I have a Toshiba DVD-ROM SD-C2612.
