Video Drivers
Hi guys,
I have recentlty purchased a new Latitude D610. But when I plug in an external monitor the laptop screen shrinks so there is a 1 inch gap all the way around the screen. The external monitor can handle up to 1280 x 1024 res, but at that res the laptop has a shrunken screen. If I increase the res to 1400 x 1024 the laptop has a full screen but the external monitor's screen is way too big and you have to scroll across to get to the edge of the screen.
I have downloaded driver R104771 which appears to be the correct one.
Can anyone shed any light on the situation?? I have never encountered this error before and have no idea what it could be!

Welcome to the Forum,
This is usually seen when you run a lower than 'native' resolution, like 800x600 on a 1024x768 size screen and it just uses
the center 800x600 pixels, older Dell Portables 'stretch to the edges' by Fn/F7.
On my D800, this is handled in BIOS Setup (tap F2 on first screen [Dell Flash] on boot-up) and go through the many 'DOS' looking
pages in there to set that option. Directions along bottom and explanation on right half of screen.
No way around scrolling to see all of a larger than 'native' resolution on portable's LCD screen, don't know about options
on external screens, except that there is a long list on the Dell Downloads & Drivers (under Product Support, upper left of
this page) of "Monitor Drivers" to install for external display use.

Hi Art,
Cheers for the response mate. I have actually rectified the issue! I was just about to place an ad to explain how incase anyone else had the same problem! It's a setting that needs changing inside the graphics driver window. You just need to click a radio button that says to fill the screen on the notebook.
