determine HD interface

Question

I have a Dell Dimension 8250 that I bought in Jan 2003. I need to buy a new hard drive but am not sure which HD interface to get. How can I determine which interface my PC is equipped with (ATA33, ATA66, etc)?   Thanks for your help.

The 8250 is ATA-100; all ATA-xx/xxx are compatible with each other.

Hi,

I took would like to add a new and much bigger disk (300Gb-400Gb) to my Dimension 8200 and would like to know what type of HD I should order. I have a spare slot and there is cable to connect another disk.

Can someone please tell me what type I should order?

EIDE; any of the following manufacturers: Seagate, WD, Samsung, Hitachi. You'll need SP1 or higher and a later BIOS revision to run a drive that large.
