Connection to the Internet - TCP/IP Stack

Question

I have recently purchased a dimension 3000 P4  I was using a wireless Belkin router to connect to the  internet it was working ok.    I have encrripted the router  and now cannot connect to the internet. The router is  connecting ok.   I have tried to test it by pinging the  Ip address but it does not find it.   I have been told I need to reset the TCP/IP stack.   Can you please advise how I do that   All firewalls have been disabled

With SP2, open a command window (start-run-cmd) and type netsh winsock reset catalog and then reboot.

thanks   before i do this will it change anything else on my pc
