Inspiron 8600. Motherboard replacement

Question

I have been informed I need to replace my motherboard as nothing happens when I try to turn on my laptop.  I have located some motherboards.  Can anyone advise as to what the numbers mean like 'Dell Inspiron 8600 motherboard X1029' and 'Dell Inspiron 8600 motherboard X1070'. Will any 8600 motherboard work when replacing or do that last four numbers mean something specifically???   Thank you for any help.  I'm getting kind of desperate!

They are revision numbers; all 8600 boards are interchangeable.

'i thought the 8600c was differant?'   It is, as it does not have the legacy ports (serial/parallel).  But they are interchangeable, sort of...   When you order an 8600 mainboard it would be prudent to make sure that you order the one for your particular 8600 model.   Merry Christmas,   Mark
