D600 DVD/CD-ROM Drive Not Recognizing

Question

I have a Dell Latitude D600 purchased refurbished just recently. I'm having problems with the DVD/CD-ROM drive not recognizing CD-ROM/CD-R/CD-RW type media CD's, that just today started not to work, but yesterday it was working fine. It recognizes DVD media cd's just fine although. Brand Name: Philips CDRW/DVD CDD5263 Driver Version: 5.1.2535.0 CD-ROM Model Number (On back of CD-Rom Drive: 8w007-a01 thanks in advance..

I have D600 as well with the CD-RW/DVD-ROM drive module (P/N 8W007-A1) and since yesterday I can't read DVD disk with the drive, CDs are OK though. Thanks.

I also have the same DVD-CDRW drive with P/N 8W007-A01 It also only plays DVD's now.  I can not get it to recognize any CD's. Come on Dell tell us what's wrong with these drives.... Hardware or software.
