The XP CD is a $10 option at purchase. You can request one after purchase as long as your warranty is in place.

Call or email Dell.

Hi! I am just wondering what number should I call to buy a recovery disk? How much is it if the warranty on my Dell xps 400 has expired? Thanks for your reply! - Sincerely, Joe

Hi, Joe:

You can request replacement discs on this page. I'm not absolutely certain they still offer this, but it used to be free. It doesn't matter if your warranty is expired.

By the way, in the event the offer has been discontinued, the next best thing is to borrow a Dell operating system disc that matches your version (home or pro) and simply make a copy of it.
