My dimension 8400 came with a 250GB(SATA) hard drive. I'm not sure when it happened, but I noticed that it now says that it is a 129GB hard drive. I looked through the forum for an answer, and I'm sure that this can't be accounted for by any math error related to base 10 and base 2 number systems. Thanks for your help.
It's most often caused by a reformat of a computer with a pre-SP1 Windows XP CD. Did you do that?
No, I have windows xp with MCE 2005, and it says (in the system properties) that I have service pack 2 installed. I have reformatted it with that disk before though.
Thanks.

What it says in system properties is not relevant, it's what it says on the CD that matters. Updating afterwards does not fix the problem.
