Is there any way to use my hard drive from an Inspiron 600m in my xps m140?

My 600m was a lemon so Dell sent me this xps m140 with the same components. This seems to be an upgrade, but given the fact they gave me (used)components with the exact same properties, hence, 'older' technology, I wonder if it truly is an upgrade. Should the 'new' system require a faster processor, RAM, hard drive in order to match the power of my older computer? Most importantly.....is there any way I can use my hard drive from the 600m in this xps140 just long enough to save some files? Thanks in advance for whatever help you can offer. A

You can mount the drive in an external, 2.5' drive shell, and copy the data you need. You should not try to boot the 600m drive in the new system - you may wind up losing data if you do.
