Using the Advanced Forum Search on the bottom of this page, you can quite easily find the answer to this often asked question, posted several times per day.
 
Any 2.5" 9.5mm drive will work fine that's a PATA (parallel ATA interface).  Western Digital, Seagate, and Hitachi are among the better brands.

The recommendation will actually depend on what you want to use the notebook for.
 
Both notebooks will use any 2.5 inch 9.5mm notebook hard drive.  The 7200RPM drives are fast but they cost more.  As for how much storage you need (60GB, 100GB or whatever) is really dependant on your needs.
 
The Seagate Momentus hard drives are quiet and reliable.

Thanks dudes! So the 600m uses the ultra ata-100 and the 6000 uses ata-6....now on to shopping!
