IE opens new small window every time click on link

I have Internet Explorer 6 Windows XP.  Everytime I click on a link it opens a new small window which needs to be maximized in order to see the page.  I've tried resizing the window then closing and reopening it but it still opens small.  I've tried maximizing and closing but it still opens small.  I've looked everywhere I can think of to find a setting to change but haven't come across anything yet.

Does anyone know how I can fix this?

Thanks in advance.

It worked!

And I wasn't thinking of IE as a part of Windows XP thanks for redirecting me as well.

Thank you so much!!!

1) Close the FIRST window and all other IE windows EXCEPT THIS ONE.

2) STRETCH the 2nd window by dragging each of the four sizes to the size you want.  DO NOT use the maximize button.

3) Hold the SHIFT key and click the X to close it.

4) Open IE, go to your site, click on the link and viola!

FYI, IE is part of Windows, so in the future post on the Windows XP forum.
