If you have Sonic RecordNow on your system, disable the DLA part and try again.
- Click the Start button - Double-click on the My Computer icon - In the My Computer window, right-click on the CD device then choose Properties - On the CD Drive Properties screen, click on the DLA tab, then remove the checkmark from Enable DLA on your drives - Click the OK button, then restart computer
I have the same problem with Battlefield 2. I couldn't install the game so I had to manually install it and that worked. I now can't install the special forces game because my pc won't go past "preparing to patch" when i insert the cd. . I called EA games and they can't figure out why my XPS 600 will not install games. I spent countless hours with dell support and got nowhere. They are telling me it's a software problem but when I was transferred to their tech guy, he couldn't figure it out either. I buy a $3000.00 + computer from dell and this is what happens. So now I am stuck as well.
