Hi Megg,

Did the Tech have you reload the IDE channel under Device Manager?
May I ask, what is the name/model of this drive?

Best Regards!

Hi Predator:)...no i can't say that the tech had me load a channel under device manager.  The drive is Samsung CDRW/DVD SN-324B.  When i ran a check to update, there wasn't a newer one.  Really appreciate the help.

Hi Meggg,

My apologies, I forgot we have spoken before, been in a class all day and 4 hour trip home.
Click on the CD/RW link in my post and scroll to Section 20, article 3. see if this helps or something you have already tried.

Best Regards!

Hi Predator, ahhh, I don't envy the classes....or the drive.  I've tried the uninstall and rebooting for the IDE ATA/ATAP controller as you suggested.  It hasn't helped.  The CD spins - do i replace the drive?

Hello.. i was looking around the web site for answers about my samsung cdrw/dvd sn-324B. I just re-installed my windows xp pro on my laptop. I saw that my dvd wasn't working but the regular cd-rom was working just fine. So I was loooking around a website to see if they had a drivers or something to help me fix my problem. I saw there was a drive for my Latitude D600 Laptop. I download it and did the SDFWIN thing. I reboot my pc and now my cdrw/dvd isn't working at alll. its not even reading it in windows.. i don't see my D: drive there, under windows explore. I was reading on Firmware... and i read that the one on dell is the wrong one. it was  . and i also found out that i had to use a BIN U101.., on that website... i believe i used Bin U306. now i used that and i don't know how to fix that,,its to late. How can i refresh my cdrw or how can i fix this problem.

Problem...I see the light on the cd-rom flashing and my pc tends to freeze for about 10 sec... like its looking for it.... and in Bios... it reads my cd-rom.. i see it there as samsung cdrw/dvd 324B P/n 8w007-a01.....please help me.....
                                                         Thank you

Gudy:

Since you have a Latitude, you'll probably want to post in the Latitude CD/DVD forum.
