Choppy DVD playback only by Windows XP Media Center DVD player

Question

Hello. I am a new user of Windows XP Media Center (2005 with Update Rollup 2) on Inspiron E1505. The problem I am having is that when I play DVD by Media Center, the playback is choppy, whereas when played by CyberLink Power DVD, the playback is smooth.   I went through DVD trouble shooting supplied by Help and Support and checked that DMA was on and hardware accelerator was full, changing color depth and resolution had no effect, and restarting the computer was of no help. This computer was Intel Integrated Graphic  Media   accelerator 950GM.   I wonder what are causing this problem. Is this because the software of the Media Center was not properly installed at the factory?   Any suggestions are appreciated. Thank you.

I have the same system and same problem, but worse.  The dvd I was watching froze and ever since then it is choppy in Media Center, PowerDVD, and Windows Media Player.  I reinstalled PowerDVD and it worked for a while, then did the exact same thing.

Had the same problem when I got my laptop 2 days ago. But tried dell tech support again this a.m. and the tech guy was able to help me. Made it work by re-installing the dell backup from the computer. It's like using the system recovery disk. So try calling tech support and they can help you through this.
