Could be firmware updates, check your drivers download section on the website and see if there's any new updates for your CD-ROM Drive. If you have an update for your DVD/CD-ROM drive, then you could install the firmware update and see if that helps.

Hi JJ,

Please list the name/model of the drive in question, as George mentioned Dell may have a firmware update and someone can check for you. Are there any error messages in Device Manager?

Best Regards!

I was also having problems with my XPS 400 reading some formats and not others.  I called Dell and they had me go into the registry and remove some filters.  After that I could read all disc formats.  They said it had something to do with the latest microsoft updates, but who knows.

Hey Predator,

It's a single drive: 16x DVD+/-RW with double layer write capability. Product code 16DVDRW. I haven't seen any error messages in Device Manager. I checked for updates, but truthfully, didn't have a clue what I was looking for. :smileyindifferent:

Any ideas? I really appreciate any help!

Thanks,
Jeff
