Its a converted Dimension 8300 (used to be dim 4300)... The only things that are different is i have a 600w psu, and an old graphics card. Otherwise they are all 8300 components....
Ok, so this is not a Dell drive. Jump over to
this review site and you should be able to find a firmware download. Try that and if that does not work, then it's upgrade time.
i can't find a firmwar dl at that link you gave me.. and i have serched google for "8DVDRW-B13 firmware" and "Micro Advantage 8DVDRW-B13 Firmware" Any help?

did you check for firmware update for the Drive. You can find it on support.dell.com >> Drivers and downloads.
and also delete the upper/lower filters from theh registry. Dont forgeore t to take a backup of the registry before you make changes.
This is the microsoft article you can refer to: http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb%3Ben-us%3B314060&x=12&y=13
REGISTRY BACK UP
Start>> Run>> type "regedit" >> OK
Go to "File" >> "Export" >> select all at the bottom and give a name to the file, and save it. Make sure you remember the path of the file.
Incase, it happened after certain hardware or software changes then, do a system restore first.
