How about your hardware details?

Its a converted Dimension 8300 (used to be dim 4300)... The only things that are different is i have a 600w psu, and an old graphics card. Otherwise they are all 8300 components....

did you check for firmware update for the Drive. You can find it on support.dell.com >> Drivers and downloads.

 

and also delete the upper/lower filters from theh registry. Dont forgeore t to take a backup of the registry before you make changes.

REGISTRY BACK UP

 

Start>> Run>> type "regedit" >> OK

Go to "File" >> "Export" >> select all at the bottom and give a name to the file, and save it. Make sure you remember the path of the file.

Incase, it happened after certain hardware or software changes then, do a system restore first.

Ok, so this is not a Dell drive. Jump over to this review site and you should be able to find a firmware download. Try that and if that does not work, then it's upgrade time.

i can't find a firmwar dl at that link you gave me.. and i have serched google for "8DVDRW-B13 firmware" and "Micro Advantage 8DVDRW-B13 Firmware" Any help?

DVD±RW drives are dirt cheap right now, with Blu-Ray and newer technologies coming.

Sorry, the company is out of business and I can't seem to locate any firmware.
