Want to play 16x speed DVDs on my NEC DVD+RW ND-6100A

Question

I have a Dell Latitude D600 with an NEC DVD+RW (ND-6100A).  I successfully copied a DVD onto a Memorex 16x DVD+R however I am unable to actually play the movie.  The blank DVDs came with an advice slip detailing the need to upgrade my firmware so that I can play the 16x DVDs.   I am unable to find any support for this on the NEC site (it directs me to the Dell site) and the Dell site does not seem to have any support for this problem.  I have also read through the other forum messages and can't find a related one.   Can anyone offer any advice please?   Thank you!!
