I have replaced hard drives before but never in an XPi CD. The original specs say the hard drive is 2.5" FF and 12.5mm.
Is 12.5mm the height?
Will something less tall also work?
Any other size restrictions?
The model numbers I listed were all for the IBM Travelstar HDD. Is there any difference in these that should be considered prior to purchasing? Is one "better" than another?
The latter 2 and also a DARA-206480 are mainly what I used. All Notebook/laptop Harddrives are the same width and length, and use the same 44pin Interface. Only the heights are different and can yary from 19mm to 9.5mm. Your XPiCD can use either a 12.5mm or a 9.5mm, but not the 17-19mm heights. Generally, the 12.5mm 6gb drives are older MFG, so if it were me, I would stick to the 9.5mm height. Toshiba and Fujitsu seem to be good drives also; I just happen to like IBM notebook drives.
