Could my replacement drive be going bad?

About three or four weeks ago I called Dell and they sent me a replacement hard drive for my old hard drive.  It was making sounds and the technician thought it was failing.  They sent me a refurbished 80 GB drive from Toshiba.  It seemed to be working fine for the past couple of weeks.  The clicking sound it made was a little different but it was quiet and seemed to work fine.  Tonight I am hearing a whining sound every time I open a new page on internet explorer that seems to be coming from the location of the hard drive.  It is not too loud but I never noticed it before.  Is this a sign of possible trouble developing?

Could be. Run the diags and test the drive. Hard Drives fail, some after a few weeks, most much later, and a few never, or close to it.

How do I test my hard drive?  I am not overly familiar with computers.  Thank you.
