How change DVD drive from slave to master?

LG GMA-4080N DVD burner just installed. Will not boot. Suspect is is set up as a slave drive. No jumpers.   How do I change the slave/master setting? Anyone know a specific firmware revision that would allow me to do this, and preserve the DL RAM-capable functions? This drive comes in various versions, all of which are changed via firmware updates from various manufacturers. Some will delete DL and RAM functions after flashing. Help! Ok, I have the answer.   I had to flash the DVD drive with firmware (as slave/master setting is embedded in the firmware). There are no jumpers on the drive.   Problem fixed.
