Do not use the one off the intel site.
It does some scary things to the XPS410.
I installed it and before the install was even finished it shut the system down cold and then auto-rebooted and kicked the system fan on so fast that it sounded like a jet engine at take off.
I thought for sure it had killed the system because no matter what I did it would do the same thing on reboot and would not even get to BIOS.
It wouldn't even turn the monitor on.
I thought for sure it was dead until I pulled the CMOS battery for a bit and put it back and rebooted.
Whatever else that software does it tries to write something directly to the BIOS that screws something up.
I know this is a long post but I figured it's a good warning to anyone wanting to try something to stay far away from that program.

If you really want to know, you need hardware, such as Hardcano, which adds sensors and read temps where you put the sensors, and can also control fan speeds.

Hmm interesting and it's showing temps and everything on the 410 for you?
Then again it might be because I'm always bringing home the latest Vista builds and Vista is not exactly friendly with older drivers.

The Intel utility is working perfectly fine for me, maybe something is wrong with your system.
I am using the ITAT (Intel Thermal Analysis Tool).

Is this what you have?
I have posted a link to a screenshot.

*You will note that ITAT will list our Core 2 Duo processors as Pentium M's, please don't be alarmed because it is just a glitch as the utility will only run on Core 2 Duo systems.
WinnieB:
Google for Intel Thermal Analysis Tool, since Intel has not yet officially released this utility.

Actually the one I was using was something off the Intel.com website.
It was called Intel Desktop Utilities I think.
It totally locked up my XPS410 and as I said I had to pull the CMOS battery to even get the system to boot up again
So are you using this on an XPS410 Tommms?

sorry for the late reply.
Yes, I am running this program on my Core 2 Duo E6600, and I believe this program will only run on Core 2 Duo systems as you will just receive an error message otherwise.
Thanks,
Tom
