TFSNIFS.SYS file corrupt message comes up in DELL systems if there is a driver corruption issue with the DVD drive.  In that case a device driver uninstall/reinstall can help.  You may also get this type of error if there is an issue with sonic my dvd.......in that case uninstall the sonic software.

Some more background information.
The process Drive Letter Access Component or Direct Access Component belongs to the software unknown by Sonic Solutions ( www.sonic.com) or VERITAS Software, Inc ( www.veritas.com).

Description: tfsnifs.sys is located in a subfolder of C:\Windows\System32. The driver can be started or stopped from Services in the Control Panel or by other programs. The process has no file description. The program has no visible window. There is no detailed description of this service. File tfsnifs.sys is not a Windows system file. The application can be removed using the control panel Add\Remove programs applet. tfsnifs.sys seems to be a compressed file.

Baywolf- Thank you so much for responding. I stayed up until 5am trying to diagnose the problem. That is how slow the computer is moving. I can't really understand how that could be causing my system to not respond and move so slow. It makes a really loud sound like it is working really hard. I did a virus scan and a spyware scan with CA ez trust security suite. That's the virus protection that I use.

Some other things have changed too. First I noticed that when I went on the internet it was giving me error reports with IE. So I installed the new IE 7 to see if that would help. Then I uninstalled it becuase it made it go even slower. I also downloaded the updated Java to see if that would help with the error codes. Originally I had CA EZ Armor and it was expired so I bought the updated version and when I first installed it it kept saying that the anit-virus wasn't working and to re-install. So, finally last weekend I got on with a tech and he had me re-install their brand new version and it made things even slower. So, I talked with a technition and he gave me instructions on how to remove from the registry, basically manually removing to make sure it was gone. I have not done that yet because I am now just getting my weekend again.

There is a lot of things going on. What makes sense to you? What would you do first?

We use eTrust Antivirus software by Computer Associates and we are continually having problems with it.  Is there a process called InoTask.exe running?  Is it using an abnormally LARGE amount of processor usage?  My computer at work crawls at times because InoTask.exe runs wild and actually uses up to 100% of the processor.

I'd check that out first.  The fix for some computers is to uninstall the entire package and reinstall.

Wow, Baywolf. Good info. I never thought that ALL the problems that I am having could be from it. I am using my other computer now and it doesn't have it on it and getting on the internet is a pleasure. Guess I'll try removing it and reinstalling it.

Do you think that it could be responsible for my java script errors and everything??? You have been so helpful.

Will you check back on this in a week or so? I will update my situation then, or as soon as I can. :smileyhappy:
