My Dimension E521 came with a 160GB Seagate hard dive and the Dimension 4700 came with a 40GB Maxtor. But from what I have seen on the boards, alot of people recieve either Western Digital or Seagate.

I looked inside my case and checked what model I had. But you can also look at the model by right-clicking your HD and then going into the information tab. That should give you some information about your HD.

Just as an FYI, I ordered an XPS 410 off of the Outlet yesterday and the two 250 GB drives were listed as:

UD305 Module,Hard Drive,250GB,S2, #1,ULD,WD-HAWK
UD306 Module,Hard Drive,250GB,S2, #2,ULD,WD-HAWK

Which look to be Western Digitals...

If running VISTA.

START
COMPUTER
Right click on Hard Disk Drives(2)
Properties
   Hardware (tab)

Should tell you which disk(s) you have.

I ordered a 410 off the outlet yesterday as well!

When I saw WD, I was all happy thinking Western Digital- my favorite HD, but when I searched for HAWK, I think it is a Seagate.  Oh well, I'm just happy its not a Maxtor. :smileywink:

BTW, I was looking at the 410 specs.  It has 6 SATA connections on the MB.  Wondering if that will allow the possibility of putting a third HD in???  Maybe I'm missing something.  SATA is new to me.  I'm finally moving past my 8100.  Gotta start brushing up on the new stuff.

Been searching the board a bit, haven't seen anything about the possibility of 3 drives yet.

Mine has six, like all of them, two used for the two HDs and one used for the CD burtner and one used for the DVD burner, leving two spares for another HD or two.

I think I heard of some mounting a third in the bays that normally a floopy would go.  Think they are called the flex bays.  Next question not sure of is, is their a power connector.    One option may be to mount a SATA Drive in an external enclosure with power supply and install connector to make the internal SATA ports available externally.

Yea your 8100 may of had 2 IDE connectors supporting 4 drives total normally 2 CD and 2 HD.   Now most of the PC have only SATA conectors.

Just got the 410 from the Outlet today!  Not ready to fire it up tonight, but it looks as though there is a power connector for a third HD.  Thanks, guys.
