HDD size 120GB = 104GB??

Question

Before anyone starts in, yes I read the FAQ about Base10 vs. Base2 capacity calculations, which states that my '120GB' drive should really have a capacity of about 114GB. However, my new Inspiron E1505 Hitachi HDD reports a capacity of only 104GB. Can anyone tell me what happened to the other 10GBs? I understand the calculation differences, I didn't expect there to be a 16GB gap. Thanks.

A 120G drive will be about 111G in binary. Subtract the restore partition and the utility partition on the drive and you lose another 7G or so.
