Sonic Activation Module problem after changing DVD burner

Question

Hello, I removed my dell dvd burner because the drive was too noisy and shut off after a few seconds while watching a DVD on my E310. I bought an LG DVD burner which consumer reports gives #1 ratings to. I uninstalled Sonic and installed the LG software disc, all from the Control panel. However, every time someone tries to logon a user they get a small screen that says inser Sonic activation CD with a 1 in it. The only way out is to kill the application in task manager. Other people who are not so computer savvy refuse to use this computer now because they can no longer logoff. I've read other posts about running some windows installer cleanup utility, however nothing has helped. I never asked for Sonic. It came bundled on the outlet computer. I don't have a Sonic CD. It doesn't uninstall itself properly and has diminished the value of this computer greatly. Is there some Dell guru who might explain why the Sonic entries still appear, probably in the registry, and how I would delete them safely? Does Dell take responsibility for this or does Sonic? Thank you for your reply. I downloaded this utility and it cleaned some files. However, I still have the same Sonic activation screen error message.

http://www.ccleaner.com/   This free program here is quite good for removing leftover frgaments in the registry. I have used this for three years now, and have never had it remove any XP critical files by mistake. Very user friendly too.
