Would this be audio, data, or what? What speed are the TDK? What color is the burn side?

I'm burning audio.

These are the discs

They are 52x but I don't burn at more than 48x.

Silver backed discs but you can see straight through the silver design if you hold them up to the light. I've been told that if you can see through a recordable CDR than so can the laser and that causes problems?

First, with audio, do not burn at max speed.  That may be one problem.  I use 8X as my "standard', but try 12X and see if that helps.

I use Verbatim's that I buy at Sam's Club and have used them for years without any problems.

(Inverness???  I'm in Inverness Fl).

A couple of added ideas.

1. Do not have other programs open when you make an audio CD burn.  e.g. close your Internet Browser and e-mail program.  Close any IM program, any wordprocessor, etc.

2.  If you are not doing it, enable the "buffer underrun protection" (may also be called "Burn proof technology")  when you do a burn as this helps to prevent "coasters" (bad CD's).  Also, use a regular CD burning program such as Sonic/Roxio/Nero, not the burn programs that are included with media players.

Recommended media for NEC DVD burners

Unfortunately I don't see the 3450A listed, but may be the 3500 sheet would be a guide (it also serves for 3100)
