replacing cd drive with cd/dvd drive

Question

I bought a used Latitude D600 that came with the cd rom only drive and then purchased a dell cd/dvd drive module (24x/8x). I looked on the driver download page but I can't figure out which drive I need to download in order to make the unit work. Any information would be greatly appreciated.    Thanks,      Jimmie

The correct driver is the Microsoft generic driver that is installed
by the Windows Operating System. All optical drives use that

same driver.

Hello I am new to this forum. I don't know where to start so I thought I would start here. I have purchased a refurbished d600 for my Daughter and noticed and I won the auction that it is not equipped with a dvd. How do I go about getting one installed? Can I purchase one from Dell and do it myself? I would appreciate any help on this. Thank you very much! I am glad I found this forum. Michael
