Thanks, but can you be more specific?  I don't quite understand what you meant by "flashing the drive to the latest version."  Do you mean flashing the bios?  If you meant the drive, how do I flash the drive?  Your instruction to do so is appreciated.

It is from IBM/Hitachi, the model number is 40GNX.

http://www-1.ibm.com/support/us/all_download_drivers.html

 

*This is the IBM site and it there is an auto-detect feature which will tell you what you need.
