Inspiron 9100 DVD Drive Problem, Please Help

Question

I will be as complete as possible as to avoid posts just to ask me ?'s.  I have an Inspiron 9100, my DVD drive is  a Samsung CDRW/DVD SN-324S, it is supposed to burn all CD's and DVD's as well as dual layer disks, I am using AVS DVD Copy registered version 1.4, newest version to date.  this is not a software problem from what i've seen.  Okay so I want to copy a DVD using this software. I burn the DVD, The Constant Gardner it happens to be and it stores the file onto my temp folder, being i have only one drive,  okay fine, now it asks for me to insert the blank dvd to burn the image to.  I insert a Maxell DVD+RW disk @ 4.7 Gb, this drive is supposed to read these, however the program doesn't recognize it and keeps telling me to insert a  blank disk, I checked to update drivers, there were none, it reads the DVD's that I put in but is apparently not recognizing blank DVD's that are in the right supported format, I used explorer to open the dvd drive and opened properties, it says nothing, it says 0 under free space, so that is why i believe it is the drive that is not seeing the blank disk, if there are any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated, agian this is not a software problem, i would ask them if it were,  sorry so long just didn't want y'all to have to post ?'s, i'm looking for answers, and no I couldn't find them after a couple hours on the forums, so help would be wonderful thanks

The SAMSUNG SN-324F Drive is a CDRW/DVD-ROM (Combo) drive. It will read
and burn CD media, but will only read DVD media. It cannot burn DVD media,
thus it cannot recognize blank DVDs. User's Guide is here ...........

hey look i wrote SN-324S not F, so yeah, it's a fact that this drive burns dvd, which is why i'm angry this aint working,

You are correct, You wrote Samsung SN-324S and not F. My apologies
for mis-reading that; however, the answer is still the same. The 324S
is not a DVD burner. User's Guide is here ...............

my god you are right, this is my girlfriends computer and i was positive she told me it did and i guess i just operated under that assumption, thanks a lot, now i wonder how to go about getting a new drive, hmmmm, think dell will trade me up for cost????
