The driver is a generic one from Microsoft.  There is only one and all
optical drive use it.  It is supplied by the Windows Operating system.
Please describe the problem so we can better help out.

Agreed with previous post. What you are trying to download is a firmware update which is pretty rare to require. It is usually only required if it doesn't read certain types of discs. I'll hazard a guess and say you have a code 31 or 29 listed in device manger for the drive. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/270008

First don`t guess, that is not fair to the OP nor to Skybird, the person actually trying to help. Skybird and many of the other Dell VIP`s like to gather as much information as possible so they will not have to guess.
Firmware updates are not rare, they are common, they are introduced to add features or fix problems with a drive.
