i have vista and i have xp. when i turn the computers on, it comes up with a login screen i have to click my name in order for windows to start. it is irritating to say the least and i just want to be able to turn on the computer and go straight to windows, not have to cllick on my name or the other profile name to continue. thanks.

Deb,
Go to Start, Control Panel, click on classic view, click on User Accounts icon, then click on the appropriate user account.  From there, you can add or delete passwords, or even account names.

Of course, you must keep at least an administrator account but you can delete any other user account names that you have created.  You can delete all passwords.  By making these adjustments, you should be able to avoid the log in screen if you don't want to be prompted every time you log onto windows.  I hope this helps.

jmwills,
I use the user icons on my desktop and have password options.  However, it seems the poster of this thread is not concerned about the need for passwords or sign-on options.

I think security is important too.  However, everyone has their own needs.  If this user has no sensitive data and is a single home user with no one else using the machine, then security issues may not matter to this individual.
