look in the properties of the drive in device manager (right click your drive>properties) and post back with the error message.

you have to tinker in your registry I'm afraid.

Go to start> run and type in "regedit" (without the quotes) then press ok.

1) Remove the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters values by:

a) Expand the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" key (looks like a folder) by double clicking it.

b) Expand the "SYSTEM" Key

c) Expand the "CurrentControlSet" Key

d) Expand the "Control" Key

e) Expand the "Class" Key

f) Now look for a key containing the following string of letter and numbers:

{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}.

g) Highlight this key by left clicking once on it

h) On the right hand side you are looking for "Upperfilters" and "Lowerfilters", once you find these please delete them by high lighting (left clicking on them once) and then right clicking on them and choosing "delete"

NB only one key may be present but still delete it.

Now reboot and your optical drive(s) should function again.

NOTE: After you remove the Upperfilters value and the Lowerfilters value, if you notice lost functionality in a particular program, such as CD recording software, you may need to reinstall that software.

if there's a lowerfilter entry there delete it as well.

depending on the result of above, you may have to uninstall then reinstall iTunes to get it to function correctly.

I tried the solution provided above in the posting as I also had the EXACT same issue. It totally fixed the driver problem!!  Now, when i go to device manager, and look at the driver ,there is NO yellow triangle!  There ARE good people in the world that take the time to help others, but let me warn you, be VERY careful when using REGEDIT. One deviation from exactly what he said and it could cause serious problems. Just make sure you take your time & print the instructions BEFORE you try it. Also, back up your registry BEFORE trying the fix. Other than that, it should fix it like mine, the person listed that he helped, and others that benefited from it.

Hope this helps!
