In order to play DVD`s, you will need decoding software, XP, WMP requires a third party program, example Cineplayer, PowerDVD, VLC, etc.. Same goes for burning DVD`s, need a third party program, Sonic, Roxio, Nero, etc..
If you are in a pinch, our Regulars have some free programs that work well. Click on the CD/RW link in my post and scroll to Section 7-5, articles 15 & 16.

If you do not have the discs, you can contact Dell:
Request Backup discs
